More Romney Lobbyist Bundlers

Mitt Romney still has not publicly released his full list of bundlers — the elite cadre of fundraisers who tap their own networks on a candidate’s behalf — but a new analysis by OpenSecrets.org of the lobbyists who have bundled money for the GOP presidential candidate’s campaign shows that they have raised at least $5.2 million. By law, presidential candidates are only required to disclose their campaign’s bundlers who are also lobbyists, but the Center for Responsive Politics and several other transparency groups have repeatedly asked the Romney campaign to follow the lead of every major party presidential nominee since 2000 and release his full list of bundlers. Obama Campaign Discloses New Bundlers

 

Last week, the Obama campaign updated its list of bundlers, revealing the president’s campaign committee and victory fund gained 107 new fundraisers from the beginning of April through the end of June. In total, President Obama’s 638 bundlers raised a minimum of $36.45 million for his re-election bid during the second quarter of the year and at least $142.85 million throughout the 2012 cycle. Several of his new bundlers are key figures in the Clintons’ inner circle, including former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe and former Hillary Clinton staffer Kelly Craighead, who each raised at least $500,000 for the Obama campaign. » Read More
