Thomas Donohue On Financial Reform
DONOHUE ON FINANCIAL REFORM - Excerpts from U.S. Chamber President Thomas J. Donohue’s keynote address at the Summit: “All honest participants in our markets deserve a level playing field. And that means we need regulators who actually understand what markets need to function efficiently and effectively. Regulators should focus their efforts on rooting out the genuine bad actors-and not on harassing legitimate market innovators. …
“Do we really want a financial sector where the safest course is not to lend, not to offer innovative products, or not to invest in new business ideas or the next generation of American entrepreneurs? I don’t think so. … Our mission is clear. We want to ensure that the United States continues to attract and retain capital, that it is put to work to expand our economy and create jobs, and that Americans have attractive options to save, invest, and secure their financial future in a transparent system with fair rules.”
